What is Occupational Health and why use Occupational Health Services?

Occupational Health is the medical specialty that assesses the impact of health conditions on work and the impact of work hazards on health.

Our Occupational Health Services provide specialist assessments to help management to understand the impact that health conditions can have on an individual worker's functional levels. It can help clarify areas of potential concern within the business to help reduce the impact of ill health and absence on the operational needs of your business.

Support we can provide includes:

Understanding absence due to ill health

Intermittent or prolonged absence can have a negative impact on your business. Gaining a good understanding the factors that are impacting on good attendance can help support the employee, the broader workforce and help identify operationally practicable solutions.

Performance Concerns

Medical conditions may negatively affect performance; particularly if they are not well controlled and/or roles are not well suited to workers' capabilities. We can provide accurate assessment and advise on adjustments to consider or alternative roles, where required.

Hazards at Work

We can advise on how hazards might affect workers' health and steps that can reduce this potential impact. This can help a company understand the potentially risks further. Health surveillance can help monitor workers' health and detect potential concerns at an earlier stage.

Ill Health Retirement Assessments

Our clinical team can undertake ill health retirement assessments for a variety of pension funds; including the local government pension scheme.

Training

We can provide management and workforce training to help improve awareness of medical conditions and their impact in the workplace.

We can offer advice on strategies to improve well-being, support staff and to reduce the impact of medical conditions on workforce performance and attendance.

We can provide detailed guidance to understand specific conditions or the health effects of particular hazards further.

Stress Management

Stress is a common cause of absence and negative well-being for workers. Understanding the symptoms and impact of stress can help companies to implement solutions and preventative strategies.
